Headed also by Charles Rwechungura, this portfolio has in past five years performed impressively. Mr.Rwechungura was appointed by the High Court to be an Administrator of two distressed companies (a power generating company and a communications company). The firm recently handled three receiverships to assist a pensions fund (National Social Security Fund-NSSF) to recover its loan investments in certain companies. It is currently helping the Bank of Baroda to recover its loan from a defaulter through a receivership. A large bulk oil distributing company retained the firm to advise it in its restructuring process and stripping of ten non-core properties.

Among the beneficiaries of the firm’s services in land acquisition/dispositions and estate development are the:

  • South African High Commission in Dar es salaam ( Plot for construction of its Chancery)
  • British High Commission (legal advice in regard to disposition of non-core properties in Dar es salaam)
  • National Microfinance Bank Limited (NMB – acquisition of land for Head Office construction).
  • The firm recently was retained by the World Bank as one of its consultants on the law governing land acquisitions and compensation in regard to a rapid transport project in Dar es Salaam.
  • Sagera Estates Limited in the disposition of its two sisal estates to SFI.
  • Peninsula Plaza Limited in the development of a plot (Construction of a shopping centre and residential apartment complexes in Dar es Salaam).
